Making a title page

Very often you'll need to make a title page for your work or paper or whatever. I'll explain to you how you can make one with info on top, in the middle and at the bottom of the page.

First just type in the information for the page, but make sure that when you need more than 1 line in the same area you need to use SHIFT-ENTER (press and hold the shift button and then press enter).
When you've typed in the information go to insert, select break. In the new window select new page under the title Section Break Types and then click ok
Now click on the first page somewhere so that your cursor is on the first page. When you did that go to file and go to your page setup. Click on the tab Layout and in the middle of the page you'll see Vertical alignment and next to it a dop menu. In that menu select justify and before you click ok make sure that at the bottom of the frame it says "Apply to this section".
When you click ok you'll see that it's nicely spread.

Deviding your paper in 4

When you want to devide your paper in 4 equal parts do the following:

go to table, scroll down to insert and click on table. Then you get a new window in which you fill in the number of rows and columns you want, which in this case is 2 for both, and click ok.
Next move your mouse onto the bottom line of the table and make sure you see your cursor turn into a small black line with 2 small arrows. When you have that click and hold and draw the line down to the the bottom of the paper. Make sure you stop just a litle bit above the beginning of the bottom margin so that your table doesn't get split up.
Then go back to the top of the page and move your cursor into the table. To the top left of the table you'll see a small square appearing, move on it and click it. By doing this your 2 rows will turn black. Next click in the black area with the right-mousebutton. In the menu scroll down to devide rows equally and click it and you're done.

Make an adressbook

If you want to make a nice and clean list of your friends' addresses to use them for example in a mail merge or to make labels, follow these steps:

Go to tools, scroll down to letters and mailings, select mailmerge. In the window on the right select directory and click next. In the following step you select from what document you want to start and the standard is the current document so leave that and click next.
In step 3 the actual work starts. Mark create a simple new address list and click on create. In the new window you type in the infa that you have on the person and to go to the next person click on new entry. When you're done click close and type in a nema for the file. When you saved it you get a window in which you can see what people you put in, check the spelling etc. When you click ok you're done and you can just close word or continue with what you were making this book for.

Making a standard letter

You know those letters that are made standard like for exmple one from the bank. At the top it says your name and then a whole bunch of information under it, but always your personal name is included. You can use this to send letters to your friends like maybe a letter that you're moving or that you're throwing a party. Here's how they do it:

You go to tools, scroll down to letters and mailings, and there select the mailmerge option. Then you get a new window on the right and in there you select letters and click next at the bottom. In that window it's standard that you use the current document, se leave that and click next.
In step 3 you have to select the adress-file. If you already have it you can click browse and select the file. If you don't have it you can select type a new list and then click make. When you click make you get a new frame with fields to fill in. For further help on this particular part look for another topic on my blog.
So when you're done with the adresses you have to select what people you want it sent to. Then click next again at the bottom and you go to step 4. This step is the actual typing of the letter. You start typing the letter and where you want for example the name filled in you have to put in a special field. To do this you have to click the button that says insert mergefields (it's the 6th from the left) that's just above your paper. When you click it you get a new frame and there you can select the field that you want to put in (they are the same as the ones from the adresslist you made). When you inserted the field click close and then you can continue writing the letter. When you're done click next.
In step 6 you see what your letter looks like when you print it. When it looks ok you can click next and then save your document or print it.

Adding an image from your computer

When in your text you want to add an image which you saved on your computer take the following steps:

At the top go to insert
then scroll down to picture
then select from file
then select the image you want to insert and click open (or double-click it)

and you're done.
